Wisdom I Pondered This Week
- “The thing about smart people is that they seem like crazy people to dumb people.” — Stephen Hawking
- “Bravery usually looked stupid from the outside.” — Damon Suede, Bad Idea
- Success is all about doing the right thing at the right time in the right way/order. Success is the sum of small efforts day in and day out. Success is about survival, not sacrifice.
- Doing your best means positioning yourself for success. It’s about creating the conditions to perform at your best rather than just hoping for the best in the moment.
- “AI will replace the people who think it will.” — Naval Ravikant
Things I Learned This Week
- After passing the taxi-driver “The Knowledge” exam, London cabbies will be issued the “Green Badge” — a mark of deep local expertise earned after intensive study (often 2–4 years) memorizing thousands of streets, standard “runs” (paired-point routes), landmarks and optimal paths so drivers can navigate without GPS. The exam is notoriously difficult, with a pass rate of around 30%.
- A digital twin is a virtual model designed to accurately reflect a real-world physical object/entity.
- sick/baddest (= cool/amazing/fabulous)
- LGBT = Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender
- Franchise 特許經銷權 (A right to sell a company’s products in a particular area using the company’s name)
