“I think in terms of the day’s resolutions, not the years’.” — Henry Moore
“A good plan, violently executed today, is better than a perfect plan next week.” — General George Patton 1
“I don’t plan long term because I want to do what I think, not what I thought.” — Jason Fried
You won’t change your life in a day, but if you change your days, you’ll eventually change your life. You don’t plan your future. You plan your actions today, and those actions create your future. Planning your future can quickly spiral into procrastination in disguise. Focus on the actions in the present and let the future take care of itself.
I don’t believe in long-term planning. I believe in being around for long-term.
Long-term planning is what you thought. Short-term planning is what you think.
Planning is guessing. The longer-term the plan, the worse the guess. Replace years with weeks.
- 3 year plan? Make it a 3 week plan.
- 5 year plan? Make it a 5 week plan.
- 10 year plan? Make it a 10 week plan.
The nearer-term your plans, the more accurate they’ll be.
