Things I Learned This Week

• 夜市鳥蛋【鵪（ㄢ）鶉（ㄔㄨㄣˊ）蛋】因其「小顆但高營養密度」，常被稱為濃縮版的雞蛋。在重量與營養總量上，4~5 顆鳥蛋 ≈ 1 顆雞蛋。淡水著名小吃 阿婆鐵蛋，也是使用鵪鶉蛋。
• The Opponent System is a distinctive model of PhD defense widely used in Nordic Europe, where an appointed, independent opponent—an external examiner, typically from another university or research institution (often international)—plays a central role in evaluating the thesis. In contrast to the private Viva model in the UK and North America, the opponent conducts a pre-review of the thesis: by critically evaluating the manuscript in advance, leads the scholarly discussion by questioning the candidate during the defense, and submits a formal assessment after the Defense that contributes to the final decision. In Scandinavia, the opponent may present a summary of the thesis and place it in context with the research field before the discussion begins.
