Wisdom I Pondered This Week

  • “To injure an opponent is to injure yourself. To control aggression without inflicting injury is the Art of Peace.” — Morihei Ueshiba
  • “Every day is a journey, and the journey itself is home.” — Matsuo Basho
  • “It is not titles that honor men, but men that honor titles.” — Niccolo Machiavelli
  • “We rise by lifting others.” — Robert Ingersoll
  • “When nobody wakes you up in the morning, and when nobody waits for you at night, and when you can do whatever you want. what do you call it, freedom or loneliness?” —Charles Bukowski → When it’s a choice, it’s freedom. When it’s a must, it’s loneliness.

Things I Learned This Week

  • The name Munich comes from the German “München,” which literally means “home of the monks.” The city’s name traces back to a settlement of Benedictine monks near the area in the 8th–9th centuries. In fact, Munich’s coat of arms still features a monk, reflecting this origin.
  • Man versus Horse Marathon
  • Bachelor party, also known as a stag party or stag weekend, is a celebration held for a man shortly before his wedding—essentially a groom’s last night of freedom with his friends. In Chinese, it’s often translated as 單身告別派對 or 鬧婚之夜.
